High Holy Days Torah Cantillation 2023

Join Saralee Shrell-Fox for an EAJL course on the traditional Ashkenazi High Holy Day Torah reading trope.

The system taught will be based on A. W. Binder’s notation. Course open to all skill levels, the last 15 minutes each week will be dedicated to those new to the trope.

The course starts on Sunday 23rd July 2023 for seven weeks on Zoom, running through to Sunday 3rd September 2023 at 7:30pm - 8:45pm.

Meet the Teacher

Saralee Shrell-Fox

Saralee Shrell-Fox has an MA in Jewish Education from JTS and a Ba’alat T’fillah Diploma from EAJL. She has taught as a Nusach Specialist (Ashkenazi Track) at Machon Shechter, JTS, Ziegler, and Frankel Rabbinical Schools, has been a High Holiday Sh’lichat Tzibur at Temple Sinai, Dresher, PA, B’nai/B’not Mitzvah teacher, and EAJL Mentor.

Saralee has been singing and playing guitar from an early age, and officiates B’nai/B’not Mitzvah, weaving all kinds of music, nusach & creative family participation. She comes from Minneapolis, Minnesota and made Aliya 29 years ago. She lives in in Jerusalem with her husband Rabbi Dr. Paul Shrell-Fox, and together they have five children and two grandchildren.
